About Elowen Morris
Home cook, recipe developer, and the real person behind every dish on this site.
Hi, I’m Elowen — and I Cook Real Food
I’m Elowen Morris, a home cook and recipe developer based in the United States. I started this website because I was tired of finding recipes that looked perfect online but fell apart in an actual kitchen — vague instructions, missing steps, or ingredients that were impossible to find at a regular grocery store.
So I decided to build something different: a recipe site where every dish is made the way real people actually cook. No fancy equipment. No chef-school techniques. Just honest, approachable food with clear steps and reliable results.
Every recipe you find here has been made in my own kitchen — tested, adjusted, and tasted before it ever goes live. If something didn’t work, I fixed it. If a step was confusing, I rewrote it. That’s the only standard I hold myself to.
🥘 How I Got Started
I grew up watching family meals come together in a busy kitchen — nothing fancy, but always satisfying. That experience shaped the way I think about cooking: it should feel manageable, not overwhelming. I started developing my own recipes when I realized how many home cooks were giving up on dishes they actually loved, just because the instructions weren’t clear enough.
🎯 What Drives Me
I focus on chicken dishes, salads, and desserts because those are the meals people make most often — and the ones where a reliable, well-tested recipe makes the biggest difference. My goal is simple: help you feel confident enough in the kitchen to stop following a recipe and start cooking by instinct.
By the Numbers
How I Develop Every Recipe
Every recipe begins with a question real home cooks ask — “what do I do with chicken breast tonight?” or “how do I make a quick weeknight salad?” I start from that need, not from a trend.
I cook every recipe myself — checking timing, adjusting seasoning, and making note of where things could go wrong for someone cooking it for the first time.
After testing, I rewrite the steps to be as clear and beginner-friendly as possible. If a step needs more detail, I add it. If something is unnecessary, I cut it.
A recipe goes live only when I’m confident a home cook can make it successfully on the first try — with ingredients from any grocery store and no special equipment.
“Good food doesn’t have to be complicated — it just needs clear steps and the right mindset.”

My Editorial Standards
Every recipe and article on this site is held to a consistent editorial standard before it’s published:
- Kitchen accuracy: Ingredients, temperatures, and timing are verified through real cooking, not guesswork.
- Clarity first: Instructions are written so a beginner can follow them without confusion.
- Honest results: I only publish recipes I would genuinely make again and serve to people I care about.
- Regular updates: Older recipes are revisited and improved based on reader feedback and new testing.
- Accessible ingredients: Every recipe uses items you can find at a standard grocery store — no specialty shops required.
